.uk Domains

UK Domains

  • In order to transfer a co.uk, org.uk, plc.uk or ltd.uk domain to another provider, we need written authorisation, on headed paper, signed by an authorised representative of the owner of the domain. The owner of the domain is the organisation listed in the Nominet database in the "Registered For:" field. Note that we cannot, under any circumstances, accept transfer requests from third parties - the instruction must come directly from our client.

  • The authorisation must specify the following information:
    • The domain(s) to be transferred
    • The IPSTAG of the provider who will be taking control of the domain. If you are unsure of the correct IPSTAG, please contact the new provider before faxing us. Once a tag has been changed, we have no access to change it again, so it is essential that you provide us with the correct information.
    • The reason you are transferring the domain. If the transfer it taking place as part of a service termination, you should initiate the service termination before aranging for domains to be transferred. (Note: we will not transfer a tag if you have an outstanding unpaid invoice from PSINet).

  • The authorisation can be faxed to us, on 01223 577176. We cannot, under any circumstances, accept authorisation by email or telephone.

  • Once we have received the authorisation, we will release the domain to the specified tag. This is normally done on the same or following day, although we do not guarantee to do so. If the timing of the release is critical, then the date should be specified in advance, giving at least three working days notice.

  • When releasing a domain, we will not make any other changes to the DNS (such as the identity of any new primary name servers), this is the responsibility of the new provider.
